Jo Blak! What’s up man how’s life?
Everything’s good. Life is beautiful
How did you get your name Jo Blak?
My friends gave me the name. They couldn’t pronounce my real name. All they knew was it started with Jo and I’m black as hell so everything connected (Laughs). Nothing to deep to it.
You have lived all along the east coast explain to the readers what hip hop is like in those areas?
Everything was pretty much similar each area. The music got a lil more southern once I moved further south in New Jersey. The values were the only difference in the areas I lived in.
What city do you feel is on the come up as far as the east coast?
I think Newark has some talented artists. I think more a&r’s need to pay attention to my second home. Brooklyn is back on the come up. I think the east coast would be in a better position if they change there direction in music. If you gonna talk that hood shit be creative and original and catchy too.
You have been grinding since a young age what is your key to staying focus or what motivates you?
The love for the music. The only way I will lose motivation is if I lose interest in the music. I listen to good music so that won’t be happening no time soon.
Describe to the readers your style of music?
My music is raw and edgy. Very revealing. Soulful and from the heart.
Your new single “Bad feeling” has been getting a lot of attention how do you feel about that?
I’m grateful for the record creating a buzz for me. It’s only the beginning though. There’s a lot more were that came from
